1) On arrival
On arrival to our clinic, you will be met by one of our friendly members of staff and immediately made to feel at home in a calm and relaxing environment. One of our chiropractic assistants will then assist you in filling out some brief paperwork, which will help us fully understand your presenting complaint/s.
2) Consultation
Once the paperwork has been completed, you will be met by your chiropractor and taken through to one of the examination rooms. Here, your chiropractor will take a very thorough history about your condition, your past medical history and your lifestyle. It is very important at this stage to tell your chiropractor as much information as possible, as even things that you think may not be important, they may be, and may be affecting your condition.
3) Examination
Once the case history has been completed your chiropractor will start your examination. The examination will include a full chiropractic, orthopaedic and neurological examination. Once this has been completed your chiropractor will then decide whether any other further investigations are necessary to help with a more accurate diagnosis.
Your initial consultation should take approximately 30 minutes.
4) Follow up ‘Report of Findings’
At your follow up appointment, for the report of findings, your chiropractor will have carefully reviewed your case history, examination findings and any further investigations (such as x-rays). He/she will then explain exactly what was found in your initial consultation and go over the results from all of the tests and investigations done; highlighting the key points that are contributing to your complaint.
Once this has been explained to you, your chiropractor will go through with you exactly what your problem is, how long it will take you to get better, how many treatments you will require and exactly how much it will cost. At this stage you will then be ready for your first treatment.
5) First treatment
Once the chiropractor has established that chiropractor care can help with your problem, you will receive your first treatment. Prior to leaving the clinic, your chiropractor will give you advice on what you can be doing at home to help yourself get better as quickly as possible and exactly what you can do to stop your problem returning in the future.
6) What to bring
If you would feel more comfortable, you are welcome to bring along a friend or family member to your consultation. Also, be sure to bring a list of any questions/concerns you may have so that you can ask your chiropractor as well as a list of any medications you may be taking. If you have had any x-ray/MRI/CT examinations recently and have a copy of the report, please bring those along.
